Mariah Moreno

Hello Mt. SAC students! I am Mariah Moreno, and I am running for Senate Chair. I am currently your Political Senator and am striving to gain your support in the 2023-2024 election for Senate Chair! As Senate Chair, I aim to provide structure to Associated Students’ Senate meetings to ensure every piece of legislation that comes through is considered with adequate time and engaged with meaningful discussion. Additionally, I will ensure transparency and integrity while carrying the Senate’s vote and intentions to Executive Board meetings. As a leader, I believe in open communication and encourage all students to utilize their voices to be heard at Associated Students’ governance meetings. During my time as your Political Senator, I have met with various students to discuss matters from student leadership to addressing equity gaps. My goal while being Senate Chair is to share leadership and self-advocacy skills with our student body. Associated Students and other organizations on campus have many resources and opportunities for students from all walks of life, and all that is needed is community and direction to ensure that students who need these resources receive them. My goal is to share these resources with all students, specifically, first-generation and non-traditional college students, as they are disproportionately impacted. As Senate Chair, I will actively promote community-building across campus that will benefit students who need guidance navigating their academic and professional journeys. With your support, I hope my efforts contribute to empowering our diverse student body, close equity gaps, and be an equitable and transparent Senate Chair.
